BELFAST LIMELIGHT,

For the second time in six months Belfast gets the pleasure of seeing Pelican. Moved on from their initial "Godflesh worship", Pelican have have carved out the own niche in the instrumental scene; fitting alongside bands like Red Sparowes and less their chosen tour partners Torche. Becoming a band of contention people simple love or hate them. Having moved on from an initial "metal moinker" Pelican would now hold more in common with bands like Slint, Tortoise and a host of the fellow statesmen regardless of which label they are on.

Torche hit our lucky little shores for their second time too - albeit almost two years will have past since the last time. Having impressed the 100 or so people who crowded round in the Bunker show and defeaned people with the sheer volume, they're now touring on the back of their last release - the mighty "Meanderthal". With an insane touring schedule the only thing keeping Torche sane has been Guitar Hero...No band comparing does justice...just know that they blow EVERYONE of the stage.

We Are Knives have become a Belfast favourite while keeping themselves away from over saturation. Crazy time signatures, finger tapping guitar and bass, pummelling drums and jaw dropping techical ability make them Belfast's best. Playing to packed shows in Dublin and farther a field, We Are Knives are awe inspiring. They make most people want to give up for being so damn good. Toe tapping time.
